Money feels so much lighter when you can actually see where it is going. This free printable monthly budget planner keeps everything on paper in front of you: what comes in, what goes out, and what is left over at the end of the month.

I made it simple on purpose. No complicated spreadsheets, no apps, just a pen, a cup of coffee and ten quiet minutes at the start of each month.

What’s Included

  • Monthly Budget Planner: income, 15 ready-made expense categories, budget vs. actual and a monthly summary
  • Cash Envelope Tracker: 6 envelopes to track spending by category
  • Expense Tracker: a log for every purchase, big or small
  • Letter size (8.5 x 11), print as many as you like

Tips for Sticking to Your Budget

  • Fill in your income first, then give every dollar a job.
  • Write down every purchase the same day, even the small ones. They add up fast!
  • Use the cash envelope tracker for categories that are easy to overspend, like groceries and dining out.
  • Sit down at the end of each month, compare budget vs. actual, and adjust next month.

How to Use Your Budget Planner

Print one Monthly Budget page for each month. Add your income sources at the top, then fill in the Budget column for each category.

As the month goes on, record what you actually spend. At the end of the month, fill in the Difference column and your Monthly Summary so you can see exactly where your money went.

How to Make Your Printables Last

Want to use these again and again? Print them on sturdy cardstock and run them through a laminator, or slip each page into a clear sheet protector. Then use dry-erase markers and simply wipe them clean when you are done.
