Free Printable New Puppy Checklist (Shopping List, First Weeks & Vet Record)

Bringing home a new puppy is pure joy (and a little chaos!). When baby Valentino joined our family, I wished I had one simple list of everything we needed. So I made one for you. This free printable new puppy checklist covers what to buy, what to do in the first weeks, and a place to keep all their vet records.

Print it before your pup comes home, and you will feel ready for those sweet, sleepy, tiny-paws first days.

Tips from Our Pup Family

  • Set up the bed and crate before pup arrives so they come home to a calm, cozy spot.
  • Keep the vet record in a folder with adoption papers so everything is in one place.
  • Short, happy walks and lots of treats make training so much easier.
  • Take tons of photos. They grow up faster than you think! 💕

How do you use the new puppy checklist?

Start with the shopping list a week or two before your puppy comes home, and check items off as you buy them. Then keep the first weeks checklist on the fridge so the whole family knows what to work on: potty breaks, crate time, socializing and the first vet visit.

The health and vet record is the page you will keep for years. Write down vaccines, deworming, weight checks and your vet’s phone number so everything is in one place.

How to Make Your Printables Last Year After Year

Want to use these checklist pages again and again? Print them on sturdy cardstock and run them through a laminator, or slip each page into a clear sheet protector. Then use dry-erase markers and simply wipe them clean when you are done. Store them in a folder or binder and they will be ready to go next time!
